Lean Into Grace

Since the day sin entered the garden, we have commenced to fabricate and weave people and situations into scenes of Eden along with moments of heaven. A constant searching for the scents, sights and the inner peace Adam and Eve once had with God the Father. Adam and Eve lived in uncontaminated perfection and continual fellowship with God until their sin entered the scene. Isn’t that what we have been doing…searching for perfection on earth, manipulating people, places and things for an inner peace only God can give? If this person would act this way, then all will be well. If I had that job, that house, that size 2 figure, that home life and well, you get the picture. Looking for anyone, anything to soothe the inner scars, fractures and secret longings of our hearts. We are searching for a feeling…a filling. As we learn to lean into grace, I pray that the past hurts, failures, regrets and future expectations would not be thrown into anything or anyone but the hands of Immanuel-God with us, El Roi-the God who sees and Jehovah Rapha-the God who heals.

Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help us in time of need. KJB

Numbers 6:24-26 The Lord bless thee, and keep thee: The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

2 Chronicles 30:9b For the Lord your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you, if ye return unto him. KJB

Psalms 25:6-7 Remember, O Lord, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindesses; for they have been ever of old. Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness’ sake, O Lord. KJB

Psalms 23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. KJB

My Mother was right, "No one get's through this life unscathed." We all, at one time or another, have been hurt, broken and even downright shattered. The world we live in is broken. There are no perfect friends, children, spouses, or any humans for that matter. Why then do we spend so much time trying to convince everyone otherwise. My hope and prayer, by creating this blog, is to create a safe place to be broken, share broken and learn that brokenness can be beautiful as we allow the grace of God to mend the cracks and fill the holes. We are never out of the potter's hand even though it may seem as if we have slipped through his fingers. In Max Lucado's book, IN THE GRIP OF GRACE, he reminds us, "you can't fall beyond his love." Let's walk together as we learn to Lean Into Grace.
